Thank you for having signed up for my newsletter, "LATEST PAINTINGS FROM PIERRE MARCEL"
This is the 4th edition, September 1, 2001.

If there could only be one image that I' ll be cherishing in another planet or life, it would be the dance of a bunch of poppies along a wheat field in a summer breeze. There is nothing as precious, precisely due to the fragile splendor of this otherwise hardy, humble weed.

I am back in France for a while. , Summer is fading away.  In July, I went along the little Normandy roads and tracked the elusive, humble field poppies.  I' ll show you only 3 of the 7 paintings, evincing my sadistic attempt to domesticate them with a ruler.

French roads and poppies studies
Final version 2002
2002, Acrylic on canvas,
32 x 39"  (81 X 100 cm)

The painting above is the one at left, reworked a year after, with the addition of airplane trails cross roads in the sky.

I made a few attempts to play with the French road signs. It was the peril of my life, in view of the incredible speed at which any decent Frenchman drives when there are no police on the horizon.
