Story:
Just
around Christmas 1997, I was assisting my friend
Frédéric Lère with a "Chinese
mural" commissioned for a music room in New
Jersey. In addition to having to endure the insufferable
New York wintry cold, I had to cope with a
mountain of documentation on traditional Chinese
designs. Naturally, the first painting upon my return
to Normandy for my traditional spring painting blitz
reflects my preceding assignment.

Pierre
Marcel was an assistant to Frederic
for the Chinoiserie project. The
first painting that Pierre did in France,
immediately after completion of the
"Chinoiserie project", reflects
just that.
