The Hit the road
paintings series by Pierre Marcel, also known as the
Mid life crisis series
Story: As a young boy , before I moved to Paris,
I lived a rather isolated life in a small village
on a flat wheat and sugar-beet countryside. My first
contact with civilization was "Abbey Road"
by The Beatles, the one with the band hastily crossing
the street near their London studio. The fancy pop
and Rock and Roll record covers of those days were
my sole fresh supply of new images and triggered
my interest in graphic design. So, there are very
few surrealistic intentions in this painting - it
is a simple autobiographic story tale. What is surreal
is that I frequently find such crystal clear meaning
only at completion, often with the help of my collectors...

Paint,
and think after. (A startling sample is Secret of Monte-Cristo, a cigar painting.)
