The preliminary
painting, acrylic and gouache on gessoed paper.. |
On the Miami Beach sand (the coarse one, with shell
debris, just at ebb tide) the word ARTS is roughly written. Fortunately,
the ARTS are thriving. The artists, and community involved
volunteers, at the rhythm of the tides, come and go,
and leave a durable imprint on the local scene. The City of Miami Beach Cultural Arts
Council commissioned this
mural to mark their new offices, between the Jackie Gleason Theater and City Hall. It was designed in August
2000 by Pierre Marcel, then printed on canvas and installed
by the sponsor AK Media Prints company .

This
summer and falls 2000, Ms. DeSutter has been kind
enough to shelter us in the studio of Camille Pissarro,
in Eragny Sur Epte, where the master worked in the 1890s.
This were my Mark Rutkowski painted there his
series of
skyscapes. After Mark returned to Miami Beach, I
worked on the apples trees that grows wild in the abandoned
garden. I inaugurated there a series of apples paintings
that leads me to stay more definitively in Normandy.
