Having Fan at the Beach

Having Fan at the Beach

Painted April 1994 in Miami Beach

Acrylic on canvas 22 x 28" (56 x 71 cm)
Harding. Miami Beach 1994

Story:

As an incorrigible Frenchy I pronounce "fan" (ceiling fan) the same way as "fun" (having fun). I still have to think very hard to detect the difference. This, and my own experience of laborious family outings at the beach enable me to conceive this painting.
Ceiling fans have been a recurrent little theme throughout my work. I always leave one wobbling in the studio, just for. . . fun.
