...Marcel
and Olivier adopted South Beach two years ago; it is the inspiration
for most of their work. A seagull on the studio ceiling reads: Prospective
et Fantastique. It might as well be their logo. Fantasy is their
product. Their company is called Subject to Change...
Though
still struggling, the artistic duo from Paris seems to hold the
market on trompe l'oeil; their first grand illusion premiered at
Lincoln Road's Wet Paint restaurant almost two years ago. Their
artwork now adorns the walls of a Bal Harbour boutique, Oxygene, the
Stilnovo furniture showroom in Coral Gables and the Tropical Surf i Bayside.
If
you happened to look up at the ceiling at Million Dollar Baby - once
a fancy strip joint in Miami Beach - you wouldn't forget the giant
dollar bills floating on the ceiling, nor the chorus line of
bare-breasted girls on the stairway. Subject to Change did that. When
they finished, owner Peter Izaak liked it so much he commissioned
them to do his apartment.
