Story:

I painted this in the Pissarro Studio, Eragny Sur Epte, in October, just after my friend Mark who worked there in the summer went back to Miami.  There is an old apple tree in the garden between the house and the atelier of Camille Pissarro.
The tree might very well have been contemporaneous with the life of the great master. A few fallen golden apples were strewn about, casting a gloomy pall in the late Halloween-day afternoon.
