Story:
Metlife
and met life again.
I broke
my leg while painting a ceiling mural in 1992 in the USA. Thanks
to my American HMO at the time, "Met life", I did not received proper care in the USA. Five
years later I "met life" again in good old France
to have it fixed professionally. Well, this was no small
ordeal, I was in pain, my career as a muralist was gone, the
one as an artist was born.
This painting is the first one completed during a convalescent
one month stay in my good friend's house Doctor Marc Lamy, in Dieppe. (who's kids
were learning to play the Violin)
Dieppe is no South Beach, but I love this town on the English
channel. It is gloomy and rainy, but people are lively.
English is spoken in the street there.(see a spring time
Dieppe painting) It was
November, and local variety of pears were plentiful. "Poire de Fizet" is a local pear which is hard as wood,
they are only edible after thoroughly baking them.
Alas my leg was fixed, nature was ripe, I was writing poetry
about pears and the mood was set for me to paint this little
study.
