Hit the Road

LOVE ROAD

Painted 1998 in Miami Beach

Acrylic on canvas 24" x 30" (60 x 76 cm)
Collection Mr and Mrs P. Escandar, Virginia

Story:

This is an interesting painting insofar as it led me to paint the "Hit the Road" series.  I had so much fun just painting the landscape, a simple French road in the middle of a late spring wheat field.  The idea for this heart-shaped tree was given to me by my next door neighborhood in Miami Beach, clothes designer Felice Pappas.

Felice had just toured France, with an obviously romantic mood. First, I sketched a smaller "French Road" for her.  The actual name of this painting is Felicity

It is by far the most "Frenchy" of my Hearts series of paintings and prints. Felice and her wonderful little store "Love Life" left my street in 1999.  We miss her charming and elegant company. She is doing great : She was recently ranked first among the new designers in the Miami paper "News Times", Best Of special issue 2000 .
